📱 ReachMe Android Help
Complete guide to using the ReachMe Android app
🌟 Overview
The ReachMe Android app allows you to receive important alerts and messages even when your phone
is locked or the app is closed. It uses advanced Android features to ensure you never miss critical notifications.
🔔 Background Alerts
Background alerts are the core feature of ReachMe Android. They allow the app to wake your phone
and display urgent messages even when the screen is off.
Enabling Background Alerts
- Open the ReachMe app and go to the login screen
- Enable the "Background Alerts" toggle before logging in
- Log in with your credentials
- Grant all requested permissions when prompted
📌 What happens when enabled:
- The app runs a background service to check for new messages
- Your phone can wake up to display urgent alerts
- Notifications appear even when the app is closed
- Custom sounds and vibrations alert you to new messages
🔐 Required Permissions
For background alerts to work reliably, ReachMe needs several Android permissions. Here's what each permission
does:
1. Notifications Permission
Why needed: Display message alerts and status updates
When requested: On first launch or when enabling background alerts
2. Battery Optimization Exemption
Why needed: Prevents Android from stopping the background service to save battery
When requested: When enabling background alerts
How to grant: Tap "Allow" when prompted, or go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Battery →
"Unrestricted"
⚠️ Important: Without battery optimization exemption, Android may kill the background
service and you won't receive alerts reliably.
3. Exact Alarms Permission (Android 12+)
Why needed: Schedule precise wake-up times for checking messages
When requested: When enabling background alerts on Android 12 or newer
How to grant: Tap "Allow" when prompted, or go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Alarms & reminders
4. Display Over Other Apps
Why needed: Show alert popups even when other apps are open
When requested: When enabling background alerts
How to grant: Tap "Allow" when prompted, or go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Display over other
apps
⚙️ Device-Specific Settings
Some Android manufacturers add extra battery-saving features that can interfere with background alerts.
Here's how to configure them:
Samsung Devices
- Go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Battery → "Unrestricted"
- Disable "Put app to sleep" if present
- Add ReachMe to "Never sleeping apps" list
Xiaomi/MIUI Devices
- Go to Settings → Apps → Manage apps → ReachMe
- Set "Autostart" to ON
- Set "Battery saver" to "No restrictions"
- Disable "MIUI optimization" for ReachMe
Huawei Devices
- Go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Battery
- Set "Launch" to "Manage manually"
- Enable "Auto-launch", "Secondary launch", and "Run in background"
OnePlus/Oppo Devices
- Go to Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Battery
- Set to "Don't optimize"
- Enable "Allow background activity"
🔧 Troubleshooting
Not Receiving Alerts
Check these settings:
- Verify background alerts are enabled in the app
- Check that all permissions are granted (especially battery optimization)
- Ensure your device has an active internet connection
- Check device-specific battery settings (see above)
- Verify the background service is running (check notification bar)
App Crashes or Freezes
- Update to the latest version of the app
- Clear app cache: Settings → Apps → ReachMe → Storage → Clear cache
- If issues persist, try reinstalling the app
- Export logs (see below) and contact support
Login Issues
- Verify your email and password are correct
- Check your internet connection
- Ensure the server URL is correct (check footer in web interface)
- Try logging in via the web interface first to verify credentials
Alerts Not Waking Screen
- Grant "Display over other apps" permission
- Check that "Screen wake" is enabled in app settings
- Some devices require additional permissions in accessibility settings
📋 Exporting Logs
If you're experiencing issues, you can export app logs to help diagnose the problem.
How to Export Logs
- Open the ReachMe app
- Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top-right corner
- Select "Copy logs to Downloads"
- Grant file access permission if prompted
- Logs will be saved to
Downloads/reachme/logs
📁 What to include when reporting issues:
- Exported log files from
Downloads/reachme/logs
- Your device model (e.g., "Samsung Galaxy S21")
- Android version (e.g., "Android 13")
- Description of the problem and when it occurs
- Screenshots if applicable
🔋 Battery Usage
ReachMe is designed to be battery-efficient while maintaining reliable background alerts.
Optimizing Battery Life
- Increase polling interval in app settings (default: 60 seconds)
- Disable screen wake for non-urgent messages
- Use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data when possible
- Keep the app updated for latest battery optimizations
💡 Typical battery usage: With default settings (60-second polling), ReachMe typically
uses 2-5% of battery per day, depending on your device and usage patterns.
